Sushi delivery in Hong Kong: best restaurants and apps

Great sushi delivered properly

Sushi Delivery in Hong Kong: Best Restaurants and Apps

Sushi can be delivered well, but only if you choose the right app, the right restaurant and the right dish. The biggest mistake is ordering hand-shaped nigiri from across town and expecting it to arrive like it would at a counter. This guide covers the apps that operate today, the restaurants and formats that travel best, and how to keep delivered fish safe.

The delivery essentials. Hong Kong is now a two-app market: foodpanda and Keeta. Deliveroo left Hong Kong on 7 April 2025 after selling key local assets to foodpanda. Order rice bowls, rolls and sashimi platters, choose restaurants within about 15 minutes, and eat on arrival.

The apps that operate now

Keeta, run by Meituan, launched in Hong Kong in May 2023 and now leads the market with around 53% share by industry estimates. It has waived delivery fees on standard orders from HKD 100. foodpanda holds most of the rest, took over key local assets when Deliveroo exited, and offers a subscription, PandaPro, that suits frequent orderers. Both carry the major sushi chains, so the real difference is which neighbourhood restaurants each lists near you.

For the full comparison, see foodpanda versus Deliveroo: which app to use now.

Deliveroo is no longer available. It ceased operations in Hong Kong on 7 April 2025 after selling key local assets to foodpanda. Any old link or guide pointing you to Deliveroo for sushi is out of date.

What to order for delivery

Rice bowls travel best — chirashi, kaisendon and salmon don — because nothing is hand-shaped. Sashimi platters hold well if they arrive cold. Cut rolls survive a half-hour ride. Nigiri suffers most as the rice firms and the fish warms. Fried rolls go soft, and uni and ikura weep. See the best chirashi don in Hong Kong.

Good chains for delivery

Sushiro sells boxes of six at HKD 48, ten at HKD 80 and sixteen at HKD 128, plus sashimi platters from HKD 70. Genki Sushi offers roll sets from about HKD 62, sometimes lower at discounting branches. sen-ryo offers bentos from HKD 92 to HKD 190 and runs 24-hour online ordering through its own site. Sushi Express has an eel box of 12 pieces at about HKD 61. See premium chain takeaway sets compared.

Supermarket delivery

Supermarkets list on the apps too. Don Don Donki's 8-piece salmon sushi sits around HKD 59.90 and its six-kind sashimi platter near HKD 198; city'super's assortments run from HKD 238 for 24 pieces. See supermarket sushi compared.

Independent restaurants

Neighbourhood Japanese restaurants often deliver better fish than chains. Hanamiyama Sushi in Sai Ying Pun, rated 4.9 from more than 800 reviews, offers delivery and takeaway; check premium items like uni on arrival, as one diner reported an off-smelling piece. Look for strong recent reviews and short delivery times rather than big names across town.

Order smarter: crossing Keeta's HKD 100 free-delivery line is usually cheaper than paying a fee — but only with food you want, from a restaurant nearby. See delivery fees and minimum orders and the cheapest sushi delivery under HKD 150.

When delivery stops

Severe weather halts delivery. When the Black Rainstorm Warning was raised on 18 June 2026, both Keeta and foodpanda suspended delivery straight away, while takeaway collection stayed available. Typhoon signals work the same way, so keep a collection plan between May and November. See sushi takeaway near MTR stations.

Late-night delivery

Most chain kitchens stop by 22:30. After that, choices shrink to izakayas, late restaurants and Don Don Donki's 24-hour store at 118 Nathan Road. See late night sushi in Hong Kong.

Keeping delivered sushi safe

Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety classifies sushi and sashimi as high-risk foods and identifies 4°C to 60°C as the temperature danger zone. A delivery bag is insulated, not refrigerated. Eat on arrival, or refrigerate at 0°C to 4°C within thirty minutes, and never keep raw fish overnight. Pregnant diners, young children, older adults and anyone immunocompromised should order cooked items. See how to store delivered sushi and sushi without raw fish.
